Babies grow fast — and often faster than you think. Barely worn, already too small: Rompers, Bodies, jackets, shoes, hats... the pile of almost new clothes is growing rapidly. Instead of storing them in boxes or letting them gather dust in the closet, you can easily resell them via Neworn — directly to other parents in Austria. The Neworn app free of charge for ios and android available.

This not only provides space and a bit of pocket money, but also helps other families and the environment. In this article, you'll learn how to baby clothes and children's clothes sell successfully which parts are in particular demand and how to significantly increase your chances of a quick sale with a few simple tricks.

What sells particularly well?

Especially when it comes to baby and children's clothing, there are categories that sell particularly well. Parents often search specifically for high-quality basics and seasonal favorites — especially in good condition and ready for immediate use.

Particularly popular on Neworn:

  • Baby bodysuits, wrap-around bodysuits and Strampler In sizes 50-74
  • Children's shoes in top condition — preferably with brand name and sole vision
  • Children's jackets for spring or winter, also available in neutral colors
  • Branded clothing such as Petit Bateau, Pomp de Lux, Name it, H&M Conscious or Zara
  • Baby shoes (e.g. walking shoes or slippers) in good condition
  • Easy to combine sets, e.g. 3-pack bodysuits or T-shirts

You can also use these categories directly as keywords — this helps you find them via the search and makes your offer even more attractive.

Extra tip: Create a small series of several items — such as “summer clothes size 86—92” or “children's shoes size 24—26” — your profile will quickly become a treasure trove.

Good pictures = faster sales

You don't need professional equipment to present your clothes well. A tidy background, good lighting and a bit of patience are all you need. Why is that so important? Because good photos create trust — and sell trust.

What belongs in the description (and what doesn't)

An honest and informative description saves questions and makes buyers feel good. You should include all important information here — but please be concise and clear.

✅ What belongs in it:

  • Size and brand: e.g. “size 74, H&M”
  • Condition: New? As good as new? Signs of wear? Stains?
  • Material & special features: organic cotton, lined inside, UV protection, etc.
  • Seasonal note: e.g. “ideal for summer”
  • What you would find helpful yourself: e.g. “was only worn twice”, “no pilling”, “animal-free non-smoking household”

🚫 What doesn't belong:

  • General blah bla (“totally sweet”, “must see” — that's what everyone thinks)
  • Exaggerations (“Like new!!!! “, although a button is missing)
  • Confusing abbreviations or unclear information

Example of a successful item description:

Name: Baby romper size 62, C&A

Description: Soft cotton romper in light grey with animal print, size 62, by C&A. Was only worn 2-3 times, therefore in excellent condition — no stains, no holes Practical snaps in the crotch, ideal for quick swaddling From an animal-free non-smoking household. Perfect for spring!

Price: realistic, fair and attractive

Many parents buy second-hand to save money — but they're also looking for good deals that are within a fair price range. The right price can be decisive for whether an item sells quickly or not.

How to find the right price:

1. Check out similar products on Neworn: Compare similar items that are currently offered on the platform. Pay attention to the size, brand and condition. Are there many offers for size 62 baby bodysuits from H&M? See what others are asking for it and set your price accordingly. If your item has a special addition, such as organic cotton or a special design brand, you can set a slightly higher price.

2. Consider the original price: You may have spent a lot of money on branded clothing or a high-quality product. Here, too, you should take the original price as a starting point. For high-quality brands such as Petit Bateau or Liewood, you can set the price a bit higher than for more cheap brands. A baby romper from H&M, which has now cost 8-12 €, should be offered much cheaper used — but if it's as good as new, you can still charge 3-5 €.

3. Note the condition of the item: The better the condition, the higher the price! If an item has barely been worn and shows no signs of wear, you can sell it almost as new. If it is a bit older or there are slight signs of wear (e.g. slight signs of washing), reduce the price a bit.

Pro tip: If you have washed the item but there are still slightly visible stains, you should adjust the price or honestly state the defect.

4. Set prices for multiple items: Often parents want to buy several pieces at once, especially if they are looking for baby clothes of a specific size. So offer combination sets: “3 bodysuits for 6€” or “5 pairs of socks for 4€”. This can be particularly attractive for buyers who need a larger quantity at once.

5. Seasonal adjustment: Consider how the season might affect the price. Winter jackets and boots are worth more in winter, while summer clothes can tend to be cheaper in fall and winter. Pay attention to how you price your items seasonally.

Guideline values for second-hand baby and children's clothing:

Pro tip: Also remember: If you buy several parts from you, you save on postage — you can actively offer this (“shipping discount for multiple items”).

Shipping, packaging and communication

Buyers on Neworn appreciate reliable sellers. If your items are well packaged, shipped quickly and accompanied in a friendly manner, you'll quickly be saved as favorites.

Tips for the process:

  • Pack cleanly and sustainably — such as used boxes or shipping bags
  • Small parts (e.g. baby shoes, bodysuits) often fit as a letter
  • It is better to send larger items (such as children's jackets) insured
  • Upload shipment tracking if needed
  • Respond to messages in a timely manner — polite but not stiff

Pro tip: Include a small handwritten note in the package — a simple “Thank you and happy wearing it! “works wonders. It stays personal, friendly and turns a normal sale into a great experience.

Sustainability that really works

Every piece of clothing that is carried on saves resources: water, energy, packaging, CO₂. By selling your baby and children's clothes second-hand, you are actively helping to extend the textile cycle — and are sending an important signal for conscious consumption.
